Empir Industry enables e-commerce and automated robot warehousing for NA-KD through a new concept

The warehouse will be a state-of-the-art and automated distribution center of just over 23,000 sqm with the possibility of expansion. The warehouse is built around an AutoStore solution delivered by Element Logic and the WMS system Manhattan SCALE delivered by IDnet. With its new warehouse, NA-KD will be able to continue to deliver on its strong sales growth and improve its lead times to all Nordic customers. Empir Industry’s new concept Hosted Infrastructure for Logistics Automation (HILA) is the basis for the deal.

NA-KD is investing in an AutoStore solution with initially over 100,000 bins and 100 robots. The solution is initially adapted to deliver over 1,000 orders per hour and is prepared to expand over time. The implementation will be one of the larger AutoStore solutions in Europe. The warehouse is scheduled to go live in Aug 2020.

NA-KD has awarded the IT company Empir Industry to design and deliver all IT infrastructure in terms of networks, server and security platforms, PDAs, scanners, printers, computers, conference room equipment and most software services for highly efficient warehouse operation. Empir Industry is also responsible for all operation and support of the IT infrastructure, initially on a 16×6 basis yet prepared long term for 24×7. The services are designed through a new concept – Hosted Infrastructure for Logistics Automation (HILA), specially developed for logistics customers with requirements for efficient, scalable and automated IT.
