MES
Empir Industry has been working with ASSA ABLOY for many years and, along with other assignments, has delivered MES solutions to their factory in the Czech Republic where control systems for industrial doors are manufactured.
-Empir has been instrumental in assisting ASSA with the implementation and maintenance of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) since the start of production in Sweden year 2005, says Jaroslav Straka – Industrial Engineering Manager at ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems.
When ASSA relocated their operations to the Czech Republic, Empir continued their support remotely without any issues.
Around 2022, due to new IT policies, ASSA had to upgrade their SFC (Shop Floor Control) software to be compatible with the latest systems. After thorough evaluation, ASSA chose to continue with Empir because of their extensive experience and knowledge of the software. The upgrade aimed to enhance the system by adding features such as a more user-friendly interface, on-display work instructions, the ability for operators to finish orders directly, and improved material replenishment processes.
-The upgraded MES system has brought significant benefits to ASSA. Supervisors now have more time to focus on their workers, address issues, and improve the production environment, which has been a major advantage, Jaroslav Straka continuous.
Since the beginning of their collaboration, the most notable difference has been the increased autonomy of the work cells with the new MES implementation.
-Looking ahead, there is still potential for further development. The system has yet to be fully implemented across all work cells due to some delays on-site.
ASSA plans to invest more time to complete this process. Additionally, we aim to fine-tune the material replenishment feature and develop monitoring capabilities using BI (Business Intelligence) reports to track KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), Jaroslav Straka continuous.
-From the last upgrade project, ASSA learned the importance of checking all connections between the various software systems that we use. We faced some challenges related to IT policies and the need to upgrade other necessary software. Regarding the delivery, competence, and quality of Empir Industry, ASSA only have positive comments about Empir, as they really have the right people in the right places.
– In my opinion, Empir’s strengths lie in their time flexibility, knowledge of different systems, and ability to quickly design solutions – concludes Jaroslav Straka.
